Teaching Senior Citizens How to Use Computers
Teaching Senior Citizens How to Use ComputersTeaching your loved ones how to use the computer is a great idea but you may be surprised to know that teaching them to use the computer for basic tasks can actually cause them to become even less independent. If your elderly loved one has a medical condition or needs assistance due to an injury, a tutor will be more beneficial than the old fashioned method of teaching the computer.Learning to use the computer for computer usage can help seniors cope with daily chores such as making phone calls or sending and receiving e-mails. Many of these tasks can be performed using a mouse or keyboard if the condition prevents them from using a standard keyboard. Others can be done using a touch screen or some other type of assistive device if they are incapable of using a keyboard. However, there are many tasks that cannot be performed using the mouse or keyboard and tutors are often the best medium to teach computer usage for seniors. Most tutors off er the option of individual tuition or group classes where individuals can enroll in a one on one tutoring session or a group session. Group tutoring sessions allow seniors to work together as a group to complete the lesson and have the instructor there to monitor the progress made during the lesson.Another way to teach your loved one how to use the computer is to have them learn basic functions first. The use of a mouse to click and drag files or a text box to type in commands is not required for the vast majority of tasks. For example, do not expect your senior citizen to write or type emails or send mail using a mouse. An excellent way to teach them to use the computer for basic tasks is to teach them the basic commands of the control pad or terminal program. Ask them to follow simple instructions that instruct them to press different buttons on the control pad to navigate through various functions. Then, explain to them that in order to take advantage of all the functions availab le to them, they must learn to use the terminal program or use a touch screen to interact with the computer. The best tutor will have a terminal program or a touch screen available to use. If they do not have access to a touch screen, the tutor can also provide step by step instructions in the video that accompanies the tutoring session. A tutorial that is not accompanied by a video that provides detailed instructions will have a limited benefit and may even cause a student to become frustrated with the tutor and their lessons. In addition to using a video to explain to them how to use the terminal program or touch screen to perform a task, the tutor should also provide a copy of the video and DVD to the senior citizen so that they can view it at their leisure during breaks or other free time. This will help the senior citizen to practice when he or she has free time and will also help them see how their tutor interacts with them as they make mistakes during the tutorial.By teaching s enior citizens how to use computers, they will be able to live independently and enjoy the benefits that they would have had to spend years learning if they had not been able to use a computer. While the tutoring sessions themselves can be difficult for some people, it is important to ensure that the tutoring sessions are interactive and that the senior citizen feels comfortable with their tutor. By using this type of tutorial, seniors will be able to find independence and improve their overall quality of life.

Nuclear Fission Definition Chemistry
Nuclear Fission Definition ChemistryIn the state of Texas there is a school for Advanced Nuclear Physics and Chemistry, which is called B.E. P. C. The P stands for chemistry and the C stands for physics. So basically in nuclear physics and chemistry you are studying the two basic forces in the world, the strong force and the weak force. The strong force is made up of electrons and protons and these are known as quarks and the weak force is made up of quarks and gluons. Both the strong and weak forces can be used to produce the electromagnetic force or the gravitational force. When these forces interact, they make up what is known as the strong and such force. The electromagnetic force is produced by the interactions of the strong and such force, so it seems to be a very interesting force. And when you study this force you find that it can also be used to create heat. And by creating heat you can produce energy. With the interaction of these two forces, nuclear fission happens and this i s how we get energy from the sun. And with the interaction of the strong and such force and nuclear fission, the process of nuclear fission occurs and then the separation of the uranium and plutonium occurs. And when you study this you find that the separation of the uranium and plutonium and then the uranium fuel and the plutonium fuel, all occur because of nuclear fission. And you then find that if you have plutonium in a certain amount and you have uranium in a certain amount then you can have an atomic bomb. And with the separation of the uranium and plutonium, the same is possible and if you have enough uranium and plutonium, then the only thing that is stopping you from producing an atomic bomb is the uranium and plutonium. And when you look at this you see that if you have a nuclear power plant and you have the right type of material, then you can have an atomic bomb.It is really fascinating and we now know this and we will never know unless someone finds a way to do this. When someone does this, it will definitely change the way we look at things. It is amazing but the future is here.

Lunges are good for your hamstrings, too. You can do lunges with dumbbells, to put more stress on your hip flexors.Another great hip flexor workout:kneel as though you were about to be knightedthe free knee sh ould be in line with the foot below itlean your whole body forward, feeling the pull on the back leg's thigh muscleswitch legs and repeat, 10 times per leg.The moves listed above are but a few of the exercises available to warm and work your leg muscles.A certified personal trainer would demonstrate and help you work through an entire fitness routine, including specific resistance training to define leg muscles.Discover how to develop your back muscles. With this move, the focus is on the back leg Source: Pixabay Credit: KilkxExercise Programs Exclusively for ThighsNow that your muscles are supple, your heart is conditioned and your blood is pumping, let's get down to working those thighs! This exercise prescription can be done in-home, by yourself or with mates, every other day for one hour, or every day for thirty minutes. The deep lunge will cause a pleasant burn in your thighs because that muscle group alone is targeted during this exercise. To execute it properly, step forward with one foot, and lower the back knee almost to the ground.Rise up and repeat, this time putting the load on the other leg.You should inhale on the step and exhale on the raise.Remember: your knees are not the focus of this move, although they will be working. Be sure that the lunge is deep enough that you feel it in your quads, not in your joints.A fitness professional would advise no more than ten repetitions for beginners. As your physical development progresses, you can add more reps.Professional athletes bust out more than 200 of these intensive leg moves without breaking a sweat!Would you see that as a personal fitness goal?Jogging and RunningDo you envy the children who squander their energy, running around the neighbourhood as though they would have that capability for all of their lives? You can rediscover it in yourself, even though you may be long past terrorising neighbourhoods. Many people consider running functional training: a type of exercise regimen that helps the body c ope with everyday activities. You can start your daily run by jogging in place, ultimately suiting up and running outdoors.Kinesiology experts recommend running barefooted, in order to avoid improper spinal alignment caused by worn out footwear.Besides, running barefoot permits faster development of thigh and leg muscles. However, concrete and asphalt are not conducive to barefoot running â" among other reasons: because of the risk of impact injuries.Should you want to train barefoot, we recommend a running on a treadmill. You can find such gym equipment at any sports facility or health club. Professional athletes can manage it for up to fifteen minutes! If you are just developing your personal training program, our fitness management professionals recommend you hold the position for only ten seconds at first, and then release and repeat. As your muscles get stronger and more conditioned, you can gradually extend the time you maintain the hold. The Classic SquatYou have been practising this basic fitness move every time you sit down. Now that you've got your trainers on, with your eye on fitness goals, you will be squatting without a chair to catch you. And, unlike the move above, you will not have a wall to give you perfect form or posture.Good posture and form are essential to effective squats.Bending too far forward at the waist, working your knees instead of your quads, and squatting too deeply all negate the strengths of this exercise.Follow these instructions for proper squats:On the inhale, lower your center of gravity â" your pelvis. Your back should remain straight, head up and torso slightly bent forward. Your feet should remain flat on the floor, at shoulder width. The goal is to get your thighs as close to parallel to the floor as you can.Hold for a second, and then exhale while returning to upright position.Remember to keep your abdominals flexed at all times, but especially while breathing out, to force all of the air from your lungs. If you are just starting with personal fitness training, ten squats should be sufficient to get your quads pumping. If you are more advanced in your personal training sessions, you may find it more rewarding to break up your squats reps, exercising other muscle groups and returning to work your thighs again and again. The gold standard of this exercise is one-legged squats, where you alternate squatting one one, and then the other leg.Squ ats with WeightsAnother way to intensify this move is to curl weights while squatting.Hold a dumbbell in each hand, and curl your forearms when on the downward trajectory. Release the curl when you stand up.The ultimate squats workout involves holding a weighted barbell at shoulder height.Fitness business professionals aver that the amount of weight depends on your level of fitness and ability. Here we caution you to not reach for that brass ring too quickly.Plenty of fitness hopefuls have strained their muscles by working them too hard, or taking on weights too quickly.Overworking yourself leads to setbacks in your overall fitness training program. At worst, you could permanently injure yourself. It would be best to call on a fitness specialist to conduct a physical assessment before taking your training to the next level.Your personal fitness trainer should declare when you are fit to squat with weights Source: Pixabay Credit: DidkogWorking Your Thighs in a Fitness Center or the Gym Here we are, at the nexus of strength and conditioning: for working and defining thigh muscles, there is no place better than a gym or health club.Well, maybe my home is better, provided I have the necessary equipment and can find personal trainers near me to lead my exercise program. With an exercise physiologist leading my personal training sessions, I will be forever shot of weak, shaky legs!If you've been wondering just how to work your way into your optimal body, an individualized personal training course is your answer.Health clubs have all of the needed machines to work your thighs safely and effectively.A thigh press machine with adjustable weight is a sterling example of musculoskeletal development machinery. What is that?It consists of forty-five degree angle seat with a facing plate that you press your feet against. That plate's resistance is regulated by weights. You should set your desired tension before trying any leg extensions.Your one-on-one fitness instructor will n ot only advise you on how much weight to push, s/he will probably set the machine to the correct weight for you.You could do this type of resistance training at home, too. Simply attach resistance bands to any unmovable object and you're ready to get fit!If there are no resistance machines currently available in the gym, you could use resistance bands there, too. Let your coach instruct you on how to use them most effectively. Some people at the outset of their physical fitness training enjoy aerobics routines, and here we highlight another quads move you can do to music: the aerobic step.Using a step block with adjustable height, set it to thirty centimeters - so that climbing onto it will be a bit of an effort. You can step up and off of this block, alternating legs, with or without dumbbells. If you are taking part in group training, your instructor will propose using weights, and how much weight to use.Whether you want to lose weight, increase your metabolic rate or simply want to prolong the rewards of your fitness programs, working out is a great way to maintain your health. To engage in your fitness career, you must first be aware of your body composition and take part in training programs, to get yourself into the best possible shape. The knowledge of how your body's systems â" cardiovascular, cardiorespiratory and muscular all work together to guide you to fitness and wellness.Courage is a muscle that must be flexed from time to time, lest it lose its power. - Anne DandurandYou can engage a fitness trainer to motivate you, or you could get passionate about fitness and nutrition on your own.You can look into fitness program design, consult with a gym instructor and brush up on physical education to determine what your exercise activities could be.Or...You can log on to Superprof to find the training specialist that will help you achieve your goals for personal fitness.Get an online personal trainer here.

5 Guitar Tips for Accompanying a Vocalist
5 Guitar Tips for Accompanying a Vocalist Sign up successful Iâm an up-and-coming guitarist whoâs auditioned for the local jazz quartet. They call me in to play along with the other members in a live setting and Iâm given a lead sheet with chords. I read over the sheet and look for tempo markings, key changes, and form. Once Iâve done that and begin playing I remember my place in the ensemble. This is paramount to being a great sideman. You are providing a rhythm and chord structure to a song. Itâs imperative to do so without blaring out your part and playing too loudly for the melody to be heard. Finding the pocket, or the main beat of the groove, will allow the soloists greater freedom and give the group a tight, focused sound. My next step as a sideman comes when I visit an open mic and thereâs a vocalist who doesnât have someone to play her song. I know the tune and volunteer to play for her. As I start into the song I am deliberate with my rhythm changes and tempo of the tune. While Iâm backing her up I remember to play quieter than the vocals. That means my chords and picking shouldnât overshadow the vocals. This may mean turning your electric down or strumming lighter on an acoustic guitar. Your job as a sideman is to complement the vocals by providing steady rhythm and musical dynamics with your playing that reflect what the singer is crooning. I remember watching others back up voice majors in college and sometimes the singers were timid and afraid to sing out. It didnât help when they had a guitarist beside them playing louder than them with their head buried in the chart, oblivious to the singerâs plight. That leads to the next point know the form of the tune. Be prepared to play the intro and make notes of what lyrics come in when you are playing the different sections of the song. The vocal cues will help you provide the best back up for the song and ensure you donât get lost along the way. Remember that singers are human, too, and knowing the form of the song is helpful should they forget a verse or jump to a chorus earlier than you anticipate. Youâll be able to get to that part quicker with a chart and the knowledge of the songâs form. That brings me to the most important tip listen to the singer! I know it seems obvious, but youâd be surprised how many times Iâve seen groups where the singer is laying into a vocal and the guitarist is chugging away on loud chords or playing a screaming solo over the vocals. By not working together with the vocalist you can ruin their instrument, their voice, by making them sing harder than necessary to compensate for your overly loud amp and playing style. This is not something you want to be known for, so remember: if you canât hear the vocals, youâre too loud. The last key is to be prepared for anything. Bring a capo along. Sometimes a key wonât work for a singer and capoing up will allow them to sing their song without you relearning the chords. Sometimes words are forgotten and they sing the song differently than youâve learned. They may come in too early or too late on a phrase. Your part in all of this is to be flexible and make them sound great regardless of what happens along the way. By putting the singer/band first, the song ends up being the main attraction and with any luck youâll earn the respect of the singer, other musicians, and the crowd. When you play your part and listen to the other parts around you, the music sounds best. So rock on, itâs time to shine but remember the guitar tips stated above: Know your place in the ensemble If you canât hear the vocals youâre too loud Know the form of the tune Listen to the singer Be prepared Be flexible and make those around you sound great Applying these common sense guitar tips to your sideman work will afford you more chances to accompany singers and other instrumentalists. Get out to your local open mic or audition for a band. Respond to the Craigslist ad from a vocalist looking for someone to back them up. These opportunities will help you develop the skill set to be a great sideman and ultimately a better musician. 3 Key Skills You Need to Ace the MCAT
3 Key Skills You Need to Ace the MCAT As every budding pre-medical student knows, the MCAT covers content learned in four very specific science classes: Physics, General Chemistry, General Biology, and Organic Chemistry. While a mastery of each of these subjects is necessary to excel on the MCAT, there are three key skills that also contribute to success on the exam. These key skills are not particular to any single MCAT section, but rather play a role on the test as a whole. While any good study plan incorporates lengthy content review, developing the following skills through full-length practice exams is just as integral to acing the MCAT. Analytical skills At its core, the MCAT is an exam that requires proficiency in analysis. Most of the exam is presented in the form of passages followed by a number of questions. In all three sections of the test, the test-makers describe raw data, whether it be via a scientific experiment or a philosophical argument. It is your job as an intrepid examinee to sift through the piles of raw data and extrapolate enough information to answer the accompanying questions. This not only involves a grasp of the content that comprises the passage, but also the ability to analyze graphs, tables, or experimental setups so you can successfully evaluate the results. If you find yourself struggling with any of this content you may want to consider consulting an MCAT tutorwho can help you with your studies. Analytical skills are particularly important in the two science sections, as the modern MCAT passages tend to manifest themselves as experiments rather than simple content review. Instead of being asked for the basis behind boiling point differences in alkanes, a typical passage would include a table with various alkane compounds and their boiling points and then ask you to rationalize the data. There are no concrete ways to develop this skill set besides practice, preferably on MCAT-level materials or through advanced science classes that pre-meds are exposed to in their junior or senior years. Mathematical skills Outside of the dreaded Verbal Reasoning section, perhaps the most feared part of the test is the sheer number of equations that need to be memorized and manipulated. MCAT testing guidelines prohibit the use of a calculator, your handheld best friend that guided you through your pre-requisite classes and likely every single math class since the fifth grade. This means that you will have to work with numbers by hand, from long division to complex logarithms. It has likely been awhile since you last sharpened these mathematical skills, so it is vital to practice and re-hone these abilities to ensure that you don't find yourself staring at a simple 'plug-and-chug' problem wondering what to do first. Be comfortable working in scientific notation as well, given that it is the most likely form in which numbers will be presented to you. You may want to take a look at these MCAT flashcardswhich maybe useful in your studies. With the vast amount of content you need to be able to comprehend on the MCAT, mathematical skills need to be the least of your concern as you work through that test. Take every opportunity to practice, forgoing the safety of your calculator for pencil and paper. It would not be a good test day if you answered a question on colligative properties incorrectly just because you forgot to carry the two. Test-taking skills The MCAT is like no exam you've ever taken before, as it is entirely computer-based. Learning how to be comfortable in this unfamiliar testing environment can do wonders for your score. Other test-taking skills, ranging from pace and timing to manipulating the test itself, are just as important and need to be adapted to for the MCAT. For instance, you likely have a certain notation you like to use on tests that indicate questions you're unsure of or want to return to and check on later. Luckily, the MCAT assists this via the 'mark question' function. Pacing yourself throughout the test is another way to easily increase your MCAT score. Some examinees find themselves out of time with one more passage to go, automatically reducing their section score by several points as they forfeit the ability to answer the remaining questions. Like the other skills mentioned, the best way to develop the necessary test-taking skills for this is through practice. Take advantage of the past MCATs that AAMC makes available and simulate testing conditions. Taking practice full-length exams can dramatically improve your score by enhancing these and many other key skills for MCAT success.
5 Tips for Improving Your Point of View When Everyone Loves The Boss But Me - Introvert Whisperer
Introvert Whisperer / 5 Tips for Improving Your Point of View When Everyone Loves The Boss But Me - Introvert Whisperer 5 Tips for Improving Your Point of View When Everyone Loves The Boss But Me Just because the boss has a following at work, doesnât mean you are going to be a follower. You have no idea why your opinion is so different than your peers and that has you scratching your head. The deal is, when you canât stand the boss; it can make your work life miserable. The great thing about this situation is that you have people around you who see this person differently than you do. All is not lost. You could very likely change your reactions to the boss. The key to this situation is: change. Change can be a tough thing to do particularly when youâre convinced of all of the bossâs flaws and look for daily confirmation that youâre right. We get very invested in our attitudes about people. We think that the boss is the one who needs to change. The reason why itâs got to be you to change is because you are the only one in this equation that you can control. I want to help you accelerate your career by connecting you with your Free Instant Access to my 4 Building Blocks to Relationships eBookâ" Grab yours by visiting here right now! Here are some tips for how you can change and improve how you view the boss: 1-Spend some time understanding the behavior the boss has that doesnât work for you. This must be actual, observable actions the boss exhibits. All too often when we donât like someone, we start attributing our beliefs about this person more than true behavior. Spending time getting down to something real is important to solving this problem. 2-Sit down with various people in your group to gain an understanding of what attributes they see in the boss. Ask enough questions so you can hear examples of what they see and how they see the positive qualities in the boss. 3-With a select handful of people you speak to about the bosses attributes, ask them about the observable behaviors that you now better understand. Donât try to convince them that they shouldnât like the boss but simply ask them if they see the same things that you do. You may find that these issues are not considered a big deal or that they are of minor concern compared to the positives they see. We all have âwartsâ so it could be that you are placing much more importance on the flaws than is necessary. 4-Spend time getting to know the boss and the attributes you have learned about from your peers. Most people tend to avoid a person they donât like. This does nothing to help you improve your perspectives about this person. Often when we get to know a person better the flaws we once saw become minimized. 5- Check your reactions. You could be blowing things out of proportion and if that is true for this boss it could be how you react on many things. As a general rule there are very few things that warrant strong, negative feelings and if you have other unlikeable people you know, you may need to seek help so you can put things in their proper proportion. Even if your reactions are mostly narrowed down to the boss, chances are still high that you are over reacting and need to counsel yourself to rethink what and how you react. You may never turn into a fan of the boss. The clue that you can improve from where you are now is in the fact that your peers find value where you donât. You can learn from your peers and do a great deal to improve your view of this person. Youâre not compromising your values. Youâre working at gaining insight that you may currently lack. Itâs worth the effort because you spend a lot of your life around the boss and it will improve your outlook.
